Over recent months the decline of the commercial viability of business and the rise in social problems on London Road has led to bad press. London Road remains in an uncertain state, with the once strong community spirit under threat. But its genuine character can still be glimpsed at beneath the hardship and neglect it has suffered.
Sound Maps of London Road is a project designed to explore London Road’s social fabric, old and new, with collaborative walks, discussion, sound recordings and text. People from across the community are invited to make their own mark on an audio guide for the communities of Brighton & Hove.
